IVC Defends Blue Star Governor

Imagine you enlisted in the U.S. Army on the sixth anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to preserve the American way of life and defend the Constitution. Now you are an infantryman on a 12-month tour of duty in Iraq, making a few thousand dollars a month. Next, imagine that as you are putting your neck on the line, a 62-year-old multimillionaire says your mother is "slutty" and jokes that your 14-year-old sister was impregnated by a 33-year-old man.

This is precisely what happened to Track Palin earlier this week, when David Letterman made the vulgar comments about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her 14-year-old daughter, Willow. Mr. Letterman later clarified his remarks, stating that he was talking about young Mr. Palin's 18-year-old sister, Bristol (as if that makes the comments less repulsive).

Disagreements about Mrs. Palin's policy stances obviously are fair game, but inappropriate sexual comments about a military mom and her daughter are outrageous and, at a minimum, warrant apologies from both Mr. Letterman and CBS.
